60 firefighters involved in putting out massive blaze at Toa Payoh Industrial Park

A massive blaze broke out in the dead of the night at Toa Payoh Industrial Park, taking firefighters around four hours to stamp it out.

SCDF was alerted to 11 Toa Payoh Industrial Park at 2.25am this morning, deploying two fire engines, three red rhinos, eight support vehicles and an ambulance. Upon arrival, firefighters were greeting with a raging firestorm that had consumed two double-storey factory units, involving laundry and paper products, including cartons of boxes.

With such scale and intensity of the fire, around 60 firefighters were involved in the firefighting operation. SCDF threw in everything they could — a total of seven water jets, foam blasters, an unmanned firefighting machine and even an aerial appliance.

It was only 90 minutes later that the fire was brought under control and was eventually extinguished at 6.30am this morning. Damping down operations were continued after the fire was put out.
