Last night, news got out about a bunch of teenagers trespassing at Ikea Tampines. According to a police news release, five individuals aged between 16 and 18 were arrested in the wee hours of Sunday morning. The case of willful trespass occurred at Ikea Tampines around 12:50am.

Perhaps the youths were attracted by the header image on Ikea Singapore’s Facebook page (see below).

The police said that preliminary investigations showed the teens hid in the building and stayed beyond operating hours… well, until they were found and nabbed by officers from the Bedok Police Division. We imagine it all culminated in some sort of intense hide-and-seek in the maze that is Ikea.

If convicted, they can be fined up to $1,000 each. Not a small price to pay just for some after-hours fun in the family-favorite furnishing haunt.

Since the incident happened the day before April Fools’, netizens got on board with jokes of their own, offering suggestions to Ikea’s famously creative marketing team on how to spin it their way.
