$410m Gali Batu MRT Depot set to open early next year

The Downtown Line will soon get maintenence depot with the opening the Gali Batu MRT Depot in Woodlands, which is expected to open in the first quarter of 2016. 

With a size the equivalent of 38 football fields, the depot was built at the cost of about $410 million and is located along Woodlands Road at the northern-most end of the Downtown Line. 

Faults on the Downtown Line will be flagged to the staff at the depot’s Operation Control Centre, which serves as a the nerve centre for for the entire line. Controllers will be able to monitor, supervise and control operations, and also have the ability to reset the train system remotely.
