A shocking incident has rocked Taiwan in recent days, with four Singaporeans at the centre of the heinous crime: they were allegedly involved in a gang rape of two Taiwanese women.
Channel NewsAsia reports the four Singaporean men to be 23-year-old students who travelled to Taiwan last week for a holiday. What transpired next: they met two local women and partied together at a Taipei nightclub. The men then invited the Taiwanese women back to their hotel — where they allegedly got drunk and took turns raping them.
One of the women decided to press charges against the Singaporeans.
However, only three of the Singaporean men were allegedly involved in the gang rape. The fourth man — who was also arrested on Monday — has since been released on bail after the women stated he did not take part in the alleged sexual assault, reports Taiwan’s Central News Agency.
For the accused trio, they’ve since been detained in Taiwan after the Shilin District Court ruled them to be a flight risk.
