4 months jail for man who beat up police officer over a grudge

How stupid must you be to assault a policeman? A man has been sentenced to jail after kicking and punching a cop who had reprimanded him a year ago.

Forty-five-year-old Alfian Abdullah pleaded guilty to assaulting Sergeant Ryan Danial Rafiuddin at a coffee shop along Bukit Batok East Avenue 4 on March 10, The Straits Times reports.

Apparently, Alfian had been holding a grudge against this particular police officer. Some time last year, Sgt Ryan had been checking up on a group of suspected drug abusers who were also Alfian’s friends. The jobless man had tried to intervene but was told to move away.

Last month, Alfian spotted his nemesis in plain clothes at the coffee shop. Sgt Ryan was verbally abused before he was punched in the head and kicked in the stomach by Alfian.

Alfian was arrested and sentenced to four months in jail yesterday.
