A 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead last night at Cove station in Punggol.

Train and bus operator SBS Transit first announced at 10:31pm that an incident had happened at the station and apologized for shutting down operations on the Punggol East and West LRT line.

“Punggol East and West LRT loop down due to an incident at PE1 Cove Station. Free regular and bridging buses available. We are sorry,” the operator wrote.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident at around 10pm where they found a motionless woman on the train track near the station’s platform. Police said they do not suspect any foul play.

Investigations are ongoing.

Free bus services were activated for affected commuters for about three hours before train services resumed at around 1am.

Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC MP Yeo Wan Ling shared a photo of an ambulance and fire engine at the incident.
