A birthday party turned into a purging shindig when as many as 33 guests came down with suspected food poisoning after eating the catered food.
Lianhe Wanbao reports that the 33 people celebrated Valentine’s Day last week with repeated rounds of vomiting and diarrhoea. The birthday party — held on Feb 13 for a seven-year-old girl — hosted a buffet ordered from Kuisine Catering.
All had gone well until the next morning, when the whole family started having stomach problems. After seeking medical attention, doctors confirmed: yeap, it’s food poisoning.
Only one guest of the party didn’t fall ill — the individual only ate the cake, and nothing from the catered food.
Kuisine Catering is reportedly assisting in the investigations with the Ministry of Health and the National Environment Agency. Their operations have been temporarily suspended pending investigations.
As for the affected victims of the birthday party, some are said to be still unwell, and have yet to recover. What a way to spend Valentine’s Day — an intimate, prolonged date with the toilet bowl.
