3-year-old girl falls from 4th storey while alone in Serangoon North flat

A familiar tragedy struck the neighbourhood of Serangoon North on Wednesday afternoon when a young toddler fell out of a fourth-storey window while she was alone at home.

Fortunately, she was still alive when help arrived. Shin Min Daily News says that the three-year-old girl is receiving treatment in intensive care unit at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The girl’s grandmother had left the girl alone in the house at Block 542 along Serangoon North Avenue 4 to go to the shops. The grandmother was said to have fainted when she saw the girl lying motionless on the ground, while the child’s mother wailed when she arrived at the scene, The New Paper reports.

Much like previous cases of toddlers falling from height in Yishun and Jurong East, there were no grilles installed at the flat’s windows. That, and the child was left alone and unattended at home.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
