Police have nabbed three men aged between 27 and 36 over the robbery of a jewelry shop in Ang Mo Kio on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement issued today, police said the 27-year-old had entered the shop at Block 574 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 wearing a motorcycle helmet.

He then allegedly jumped over a counter before fleeing with an assortment of jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets and pendants, worth around S$100,000 (US$72,000).

No weapon was used and the two staff members present during the robbery were not injured.

The man was to be charged in court today, while the other two accomplices are scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, police said.

If found guilty, they could each be jailed for up to 10 years with six strokes of the cane.

“This is a brazen robbery committed in broad daylight. The main robbery suspect went to great lengths to conceal his identity to evade detection and arrest,” deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Department Lian Ghim Hua said in the statement.
