A 27-year-old Malaysian convicted of trafficking 22.24g of diamorphine into Singapore on April 12, 2012, was given the death penalty in court yesterday, Today reports.
Prabagaran a/l Srivijiayan was found with two bundles of the drug hidden in the armrest console of the car he was driving through Woodlands Checkpoint. He claimed that the car didn’t belong to him, and that he had been on his way to return his old work permit and gate pass to a former employer.
The prosecutor has found his testimony to be “unconvincing, riddled with inconsistencies and cannot be believed”.
Prabagaran’s said to be looking into filing an appeal against the death penalty sentence.
