27 soldiers hit with food poisoning at Clementi Camp

27 soldiers at Clementi Camp, mostly consisting of full-time national servicemen,  were down with food poisoning last Thursday.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the outbreak of Gastro-Intestinal Disease last Saturday, which saw 27 servicemen receiving treatment at the Clementi Camp Medical Centre — all of whom have been discharged and given light duties.

In response to the outbreak, the unit has since taken precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the disease by ceasing cookhouse operations, disinfecting dining and communal areas and enforcing personal hygiene practices.

“The SAF takes the safety and well-being of our soldiers very seriously,” Mindef asserts in their press release. “Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.”
