2018 will have the lowest amount of long weekends Singapore’s ever had in years

We’re not even halfway through the year, but don’t let that stop you from making holiday plans for next year. It’s not much, but we’ll take whatever we can —Singapore’s getting four long weekends in 2018. A pretty sad amount when you compare it to this year’s dosage.

The Ministry of Manpower just released the list of dates of 11 gazetted public holidays for next year, with only four of those falling close to the weekend. So if you do plan to jet off during extended weekends, mark New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year, Good Friday and Hari Raya Puasa on your calendars.

Welp, our luck with long weekends had to run out sometime. The past few years have been pretty generous in extended weekends — we had eight of ’em in 2014, seven in 2015 and six in 2016. Best thing to do right now is to enjoy the five remaining long weekends we have this year, starting with next week’s Good Friday fallout.
