Former kindergarten principals Bavani V R Kumaran and Koh Anna have been dragged to court in two separate cases for the same crime, TODAY reports. They misappropriated funds totalling nearly $100,000 during their term as heads of two PAP Community Foundation (PCF) centres.
During his time as the principal of PCF Sparkletots Preschool at 644 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, 39-year-old Bavani was found to have allegedly misappropriated $13,540 of cash belonging to an Ong Choo Huay. Between January 2014 and October last year, he was said to have converted the money for personal use, and has since been charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust.
Koh Anna (alias Koh Susie), 53, was charged with four counts of the same offence. While she was a principal at the PCF Centre at 515 Jurong West Street 52, she misappropriated a total of $79,200 of cash that belonged to the school in different periods between 2010 and 2013.
Both will be back in court next month, with Bavani set to appear on Mar 22, while Koh has a pretrial conference scheduled for Mar 24. They could be jailed up to 15 years and fined for each charge should they be found guilty of criminal breach of trust.
