It’s not the positive start to 2017 they were looking forward to.
Two Malaysian ladies allegedly went through the ghastly experience of getting sexually assaulted while partying at Siloso Beach Party during the New Year’s celebrations.
Thirty-year-old Evelynn Boey was amongst partygoers in the foam pool when someone seized her from behind and pushed her in, violating her in the process. According to the Facebook post she made the day after, the assailant also tried to pull her bra down, with another hand forced its way through her pants.
She successfully extricated herself out of the shocking situation and sought the help of a nearby guard, but unfortunately, the only answer the he could provide was, “I didn’t see anything, I can’t do anything”.
She told The Straits Times that she didn’t manage to apprehend the culprit as she “panicked and wanted to get out of the foam so that people could see (her) or for (her) to grab someone.”
Netizens have been pouring into Ms Boey’s post to offer their sympathies and disgust for both the security management and the assailant’s brazen advances.
The other victim, who gave her name to Shin Min Daily as Lee, said she was trying to reach Ms Boey when she was also violated by an attempt to pull her pants down. Fortunately for her, she got away before her situation escalated.
A spokesperson from the Sentosa Development Corporation told The Straits Times yesterday that they were “in contact with the two guests to render (their) assistance”.
