In an operation on Tuesday (Apr 11), two suspected drug traffickers were arrested for the possession of almost 1kg of heroin, according to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). A 50-year-old Singaporean man met up with a 37-year-old Malaysian man around 1.20am at a carpark by Teck Whye Lane, and they got into a car together for a brief moment before parting ways.
Soon after, the Malaysian suspect was arrested, and officers found $3,400 cash on him. The Singaporean was also arrested after he parked his car nearby, and two bundles of heroin weighing almost 1kg were seized from the vehicle.
Investigations into the suspects’ drug activities are underway. Both men could be looking at the death penalty if they’re found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine (pure heroin).
