A total of 17 women were arrested during anti-vice raids conducted by the Central Police Division on Tuesday and Wednesday at public entertainment outlets and unlicensed massage establishments in the Jalan Besar and Little India areas, according to a statement issued by the police yesterday.

Six women, aged between 21 and 43, were nabbed for allegedly providing sexual services while working illegally at massage joints. Three massage places were also discovered to be operating without proper licences.

“Actions will be taken against the owners of these unlicensed massage establishments,” the statement added.

Separately, 11 women were handcuffed for working illegally as hostesses at public entertainment outlets along Jalan Besar and Syed Alwi Road.

The police said that actions will also be taken against these entertainment outlet operators for providing illegal employment.

Previously, 32 people were arrested in a five-day anti-vice raid just last month.
