16 more charges dispensed to the first man charged under new human trafficking act

The first man to ever be charged under the new Prevention of Human Trafficking Act is in even deeper trouble now, with 16 new charges meted upon him in court today.

24-year-old Muhammad Khairulanwar Rohmat had initially been charged with recruiting a 15-year-old girl at a Starbucks Coffee outlet in Orchard for sex on Apr 15, and having sex with her in a toilet at Cuppage Plaza (eww).

According to The Straits Times, he faces fresh charges including recruiting a 16-year-old girl for sexual exploitation at Five Tapas Bar at Cuppage Terrace on March 15. He allegedly paid her $70 for sex in the same toilet at Cuppage Plaza.

He also faces two counts of colluding a customer to obtain the sexual services of the 16-year-old girl for $350 and $450, as well as accusations that he lives off the immoral earnings of prostitutes.

A bail of $70,000 was offered and the case will be mentioned again on May 20.
