The dude who went astray and wandered stupidly into the Singapore Grand Prix track to snap a picture has just appeared in court this morning, and man is he in deep shit.
27-year-old British national Yogvitam Pravin Dhokia was seen having a little stroll in the middle of the Marina Bay Street Circuit last Sunday, amidst a race between the fastest cars in the world which can reach top speeds of around 369 km/h.
He was arrested by the police later on, but not before he caused a furore among the racers — Red Bull Racing team’s Daniel Ricciardo (who was runner-up) said that Dhokia’s intrusion affected the outcome of the race. Ferrari driver and Singapore Grand Prix winner Sebastian Vettel called for tighter security at the grandstands, especially since he was the one who first spotted him crossing the tracks.

In court, Dhokia was charged for endandering the personal safety of the drivers, with his bail set at a whopping $15,000 and his passport impounded. In response to hearing the amount of bail, he said that it was far too high for him because he was unemployed and already spent all his savings on tickets for the Grand Prix, Channel NewsAsia reports. Way to have your priorities in check, bro.
While waiting for the next hearing on Oct 6, Dhokia is being placed in remand for now — and may even be slapped with even more charges. In the meantime, Formula 1 world governing body Federation Internationale De L’Automobile (FIA) are expecting a full report of the incident from Singapore Grand Prix.
