15-year-old Singapore-born singer impresses all three judges on The X Factor Australia

Looks like Singapore’s making quite the splash on the world music stage this year. First, there was Nathan Hartono, who had the entire nation rooting for him as he took second place on TV singing competition Sing! China. Now, there’s a new name emerging on The X Factor Australia, and it’s Singapore-born, Melbourne-based Natalie Ong. The powerhouse singer, who’s just 15, killed it at her audition with her rendition of ‘The Voice Within’ by Christina Aguilera.

Just look at her grandmother’s face, shining with pride. (Btw her grandma flew in from Singapore just to watch her in action).

After wowing all three judges — Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert and first Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian — with her first performance, Ong impressed them again at the ‘Three Seat Challenge’ with her cover of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ by Etta James. Even though she was the last performer of the night, she took top three and went on to the next round, earning Lambert’s shoe-throwing approval.
