Four months ago, 20/20 — The Temasek Short Film Project debuted with 20 teams of aspiring young filmmakers showcasing their works. More than a million collective views later, a LASALLE College of the Arts film student has been offered an opportunity by mm2 Entertainment to produce his first full-length movie.
Leroy Lim, 25, is the director behind I Believe, a tale inspired by real life events about an initially shaky and unlikely friendship between an autistic young man (played by Maxi Lim of Ah Boys to Men fame) and a popular guy in church. The most-watched film among the 20 titles, this 16-minute short was produced by Nikko Koh and written by Dhinesh Ravichandran, Lim’s fellow LASALLE mates, and the team was mentored by local director Wee Li Lin.
