You won’t find any physical artefacts at the National Museum’s new digital gallery

The National Museum of Singapore has just debuted its first digital gallery, and yes, that means you won’t find any physical artefacts on exhibit. More like an experimental space to explore the connection between art and digital technology, Gallery10 features artists who use projection technology to create multi-disciplinary displays.

The first installation to debut at Gallery10 is Art of the Rehearsal, a permanent three-channel video showcase by artist Sarah Choo Jing created in collaboration with cinematographer Jeffrey Ang.

Enter into the space and you’ll be greeted by visuals of Singaporean dancers from different ethnic backgrounds rehearsing in back lanes of cultural districts. The artwork highlights the process of training for the performance rather than the end result.

More projects and collabs will make an appearance at the gallery in the upcoming months.

Gallery10 is at L1, National Museum of Singapore. Open daily 10am-7pm. Free.
