Weekend Warrior: Oct 28-30

A quick digest of the coolest weekend happenings in Singapore.

Charlotte’s Web

Until Dec 11; weekdays 10am, weekends and public holidays 11am & 2pm at KC Arts Centre – Home of SRT. $25-$48.

Dracula

Just in time for Halloween weekend, the famous horror tale creeps onto the stage at Resorts World Sentosa. It’s a production by a UK theatre company, but you’ll be happy (terrified?) to hear that local actress/singer Narelle Kheng plays Lucy in this adaptation.

Until Nov 13; selected days 2.30pm & 7.30pm at Resorts World Theatre, Resorts World Sentosa. $48-$168.

Happy Ever Laughter

Ready yourself for a barrel of laughs as our nation’s best stand-up comedians — names like Kumar, Hossan Leong, Judee Tan, Rishi Budhrani, Siti Khalijah and Sebastian Tan — get together for a night of hilarity.

Until Nov 6; Tues-Sat 8pm, Sat & Sun 3pm at Esplanade Theatre. $58-$158.

Night Market at Chijmes

Head over to the historic building for a marketplace filled with local creations and crafts.

Until Oct 30; 6pm-10.30pm at CHIJMES, 30 Victoria St. Free.

Open Air Cinema Club: Oculus

Scare the crap out of yourself at this rooftop screening of horror flick, Oculus.

6.30pm-9pm at The Hive Singapore, 59 New Bridge Rd. $10.

Singapore Biennale 2016

Loads of cool stuff going on at the Biennale’s opening weekend, including interactive exhibitions, artist tours, music performances, art markets and more.

Last Weeks with Rochor: A Photo Exhibition

Before the 39-year-old Rochor Centre closes for good, walk down memory lane at this nostalgic photo exhibition, where residents from all walks of life will be present to engage the public with tales of the beloved heartland estate.

Until Oct 30; 4pm-10pm at L1, Open Space Walkway, Rochor Centre, 1 Rochor Rd. Free.

Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N

Catch a glimpse into the world of Marvel’s The Avengers at the Science Centre’s kid-friendly exhibit, where you’ll get to browse through intelligence files, classified studies and experiments on the history and scientific origins of the superhero team.

Until Mar 5, 2017; daily 10am-6pm at Science Centre Singapore, 15 Science Centre Rd. $18-$30.

Nightmare on Clarke Street

Embark on a nightmare tour of the ‘abandoned hotel’, pop by the ‘bloody butcher shop’ to feast your eyes on a horrific massacre, or walk with the undead on ‘Clarke street’ — it’s all in the spirit of Halloween, of course. Also look out for stage games, DJ performances, a pop-up bar and face-painting activities.

8pm-midnight at Clarke Quay Central Fountain Square. Free.

Ride Back in Time

In honour of Deepavali, this is the second last time the railway station will open its doors this year before it closes for renovation works. Fun stuff include a farmers’ market, exhibitions, talks, workshops and a storytelling session. Not-so-fun stuff include the massive crowds that will surely descend upon the historic landmark.

9am-6pm at the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, 30 Keppel Rd. Free.

SJ50 Matsuri

Singapore and Japan celebrates 50 years of friendship with a family-friendly festival in town that features dance performances, Japanese festival games, Japanese food stalls and lots more.

Sunday, Oct 30

Car-Free Sunday

Here’s your chance to walk, jog or cycle around the CBD and Civic District, and take part in the various activities going on there. Oh, and the route’s also been expanded to include Cecil Street and Telok Ayer Conservation Area.
