007 in Concert

Music from 50 years of Bond films comes to town, with 28 musicians from the UK and the Base Philharmonic Orchestra in Singapore, as well as two international singers and two local ones, John Klass and Beverly Lim Morata. Expect tunes from 007 flicks such as Skyfall, Diamonds Are Forever, Goldfinger, and Licence to Kill.

Aliwal Urban Art Festival

Head over to Kampong Glam for the festival’s fifth edition, featuring a line-up of dance performances, urban art, music gigs, a street football challenge, and an artist market.

5pm-11pm at Aliwal Arts Centre. Free.

All in Her Day’s Work

The solo exhibition by Charmaine Poh spotlights a photographic series that gathers narratives from working women to explore the pressures that society places on women’s bodies.

Artwalk Little India

The fourth edition of Artwalk Little India is set to the theme of “Urban Mythology”, with murals, public art installations and performances across the Little India district.

Bashment People’s Party

Dancehall lovers, unite at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore for this three-day event, which includes two master classes by choreographer Katrin Wow and a dancehall battle and after party.

Until Jan 21 at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore. $10-$70.

Craft Reinterpreted

Browse through this exhibition by local design company Foundry and the Ishikawa prefecture in Japan, where products made by time-honored Japanese craft techniques from Ishikawa will be displayed.

Dahlia Dreams

Inspired by Chinese imperial gardens, this Lunar New Year floral display highlights dahlias, camellias, lagerstroemias and bromeliads in a courtyard garden setting. Also look out for diorama cutouts, driftwood sculptures and ornamental topiaries in the shape of canines to usher in the Year of the Dog. Oh, and if you’d like to meet the God of Fortune, keep an eye out for updates in February.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert

The second chapter of the Harry Potter film concert series will showcase the entire movie on a 40ft screen with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra performing John Williams’ score live.

Light to Night Festival

Light up your evening with a stroll around the Civic District to landmarks such as The Arts House, Asian Civilisations Museum, and the National Gallery Singapore, where over 30 programs and performances — as well as outdoor light art installations — will entertain you over two weekends.

Punggol Big Carnival

If you can’t be bothered to make the trek to Marina Bay for the waterfront carnival, head over to this heartland one for carnival rides and game booths.

Until Feb 15; daily 5:30pm-10:30pm at the open field beside Punggol MRT. Free.

Raid

The historic Tiong Bahru Air Raid Shelter opens its doors in a rare event to the public with works by the likes of eight emerging artists.

Until Feb 3, Tues-Sun noon-6pm at 78 Guan Chuan St. Free.

SPRMRKT Vietnam: A Cultural Showcase

Displaying the best of Vietnam’s contemporary culture through food, art, and design, the event includes activities such as a craft beer workshop, a chocolate and booze pairing, and daily Vietnamese street food specials.

World Snack Fair

Stock up your depleting snack pile with loads of munchies from Japan, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, and more.

Saturday, Jan 20

Jordan Rakei

Spend your Saturday evening with the multi-instrumentalist and producer from New Zealand, as he brings you his brand of soul, jazz and hip-hop driven sound.

7pm-10pm at Kilo Lounge. $58-$65.

*Scape Confessions

Catch local bands like Goose, Orangecove, and Cadence on stage, as well as a dance performance by SGK x MonsterG at the teen hangout spot.
