Friday, Feb 2

5 Rehearsals of a Wedding

Homegrown visual artist Kray Chen presents a project inspired by the rituals of an average Singaporean Chinese wedding — but with a twist. Check out the tongue-in-cheek exploration of wedding rituals, which ditches tradition and cliché for something different and unexpected.

Diva to the Death

The dramatic dinner theatre interactive experience features divas going head-to-head with classy jazz tunes and flamboyant getai melodies. Just don’t be surprised if you’re asked to halt your meal for a bit and join in the action. Food-wise, expect a blend of Italian and Singaporean cuisines with dishes such as chilli crab kueh pie tee, laksa risotto, and gula melaka panna cotta. On weekends, the after-party starts at 11:30pm, with jazz and hip hop beats into the night.

Salsa Under the Stars

Returning after a long hiatus, the monthly Latin dance party goes back to basics with a 45-minute beginner workshop starting at 7:15pm. Once you’ve got those moves down pat, salsa through the night to beats by DJs May May, Shellsuit, and Stew Bamrah.

7pm-11:30pm at kult kafe, White House L1. $5 at the door.

Scallop and Passionfruit Afternoon Tea

A strange combination this may seem, but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. Highlights on the menu include lobster otah, seared scallop with teriyaki yuzu vinaigrette wrapped in bacon, passionfruit meringue tart, and passionfruit cremeux banana sponge cake.

Until Feb 28; daily 3pm-5pm, with an extra 12:30pm-2:30pm seating on weekends and public holidays at Axis Bar and Lounge, Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. $42/person, $80/two.

The Digital Showcase

Trek through the mountains of Song-Yuan landscapes, get up close to intricate carvings of a 16th century prayer bead, and explore an animated composition of a historic fragment from York Minster at the museum’s digital showcase.

The Great Escape

Head to the rooftop carpark of Golden Mile Tower for a late night disco sesh and boogie your way through funk, soul, Latin, jazz, hip hop, and house grooves.

The Liese Girl

If you’re thinking of going the funky route with your hair for the upcoming Lunar New Year festivities, stop by the Liese Hair Color Supplement pop-up for an affordable way to spruce up your ‘do.

Twilight: Flea & Feast

Returning for its second edition, the festival features a “love and romance” theme this time (of course), with a line-up that includes giant games, craft workshops, movie screenings, massages by professional therapists from the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, live performances, two balloon pits, more than 100 retailers, and love-themed installations for all the Instagram-obsessed.

Saturday, Feb 3

CNY Pop-up Market

Browse through the CNY-themed market with participating vendors such as One Chic Store, Operation Overhaul, That Pretty Fairy, Wild Knots, Sunday Peach, and more. Also look out for painting workshops, F&B stalls, a roving Cai Shen Ye (God of Fortune), and an LED lion dance.

Crate and Barrel New Home Fair

Featuring 14 home service vendors at this edition, the fair also offers a styling center for homeowners to seek help in creating their dream home.

10am-9pm at Crate and Barrel ION Orchard. Free. 

East Side Story

Cheers to the weekend with in-house brewed craft beers and bites to the beat of funk, soul, disco, and house at this breezy Joo Chiat joint.

6pm-midnight at The 1925 Brewing Co. Free.

Hollywood Party

The chill rooftop bar invites you to spend an evening admiring the waterfront views and sipping on cocktails like whiskey sour, cosmopolitan, and gin fizz at this glamorous soiree.

8pm-late at Lantern at The Fullerton Bay Hotel. $30, includes a glass of champagne or cocktail.

Onesie Party

When was the last time you were invited to rock up to a club in your fuzzy onesie? If your answer was “never”, now’s the time to get comfy at this pajama party.

Sky High Brunch

Get high up in the sky with four hours’ worth of free-flow Veuve Clicquot champagne and nibbles at the mod-Asian buffet spread to the backdrop of house and Afro-Latin beats by DJs Brendon P and Joshua P.

FamFest 2018 – Edition II

The family-friendly fest hosted at the open field at Goodman Arts Centre features a flea market and loads of activities to keep the little ones occupied.
