Old school Singaporean snacks — we all love ’em and have great memories of snacking on everything when we were young without gaining a kilo. But betcha never thought of these edibles as makeup. Well, except for those Smarties and M&M; everyone’s definitely tried moistening them and wiping the coloring over their lips.
So the team behind local beauty e-mag Daily Vanity decided to give it go and used everything from Horlicks powder and F&N rose syrup to Push Pops and Super Rings as face paint. Three Legs Cooling Water became a makeup setting spray, Milo powder turned into brow powder/eyeshadow/eyeliner, Apollo chocolate wafers were used as contouring bars, and even Ya Kun Kaya Toast’s stick of butter worked as a subtle highlighter. Sort of.
Curious to see how they did it? Slightly grossed out by the thought of all that sugar and grease on someone’s face? Kinda craving a mug of Milo and a bite of butter sugar Ya Kun toast now? Check out the vid below.
Of course, the whole ‘food as makeup’ thing (is it even a fad?) isn’t new. Famous office chef Ms Yeah tried it out not too long ago — and her use of items like Skittles, tomato sauce, cocoa powder and marshmallows on her face was strangely fascinating.
