Much has been said about this year’s forgettable NDP theme song. Even more has been said about the nation getting ready for Singapore’s 52nd birthday — think National Day-inspired foods, NDP-related marketing faux pas, and even the Port of Singapore Authority jumping on the bandwagon with shipping containers arranged into a birthday greeting.
So we’re just gonna leave you with this alternative patriotic tune by three childhood buddies — one of whom you may recognize as part of local a cappella outfit, MICappella (they also did their own medley of NDP songs).
Netizens have been hailing their original composition ‘My Little Red Dot’ as “worth listening to”, “beautifully written” and much preferred to the official NDP theme song of the year. Harsh, but true!
