Three Singaporeans created a site that generates crazy (but probable) ‘Game of Thrones’ theories

With less than a month to the premiere of Game of Thrones’ seventh season, we’re all grasping at straws trying to figure out what’s gonna happen to the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryen(s) and the many other characters that make up HBO’s hit fantasy drama. No, don’t you dare tell us it’s just a TV show; this is Game of frickin’ Thrones, dammit.

So whatever can we do to hasten the slow march of time till July 16? Praise be to Drowned God for Theories are Coming, a single-serving site developed by three Singaporeans for the sole purpose of spewing possible outcomes for the various Game of Thrones characters.

But don’t take it too seriously though; the site’s all about making absurd theories totally believable. Somehow, crazy postulations like how Jon Snow orchestrated the Red Wedding and how wee Podrick Payne becomes the ruler of Westeros get rationalized — and really, we shouldn’t be surprised if some of them do turn out to be true in such an unpredictable show.

According to the trio behind the site — Vasanth Seshadri, Nigel Tang and Wanni Goh — Theories are Coming has gone viral worldwide, with over 45,000 visitors and increasing. Speaking to Coconuts Singapore, Vasanth noted that publications as far off as Greece, Nigeria, Iran, Czech Republic, Chile and more have written about their site.

An awesome achievement too (considering they’ve spent nothing on marketing), and a testament to how the show’s become a universal cultural landmark. We may come from different worlds, but when it comes to the fate of Westeros (and seething hatred for Ramsay Bolton), we speak one language.
