The Substation’s School of Uncommon Knowledge lets you barter services and experience for lessons

You’ve heard of barter flea markets, but who knew there are such things as barter schools where you can learn something new in exchange for your own knowledge?

This November, The Substation is hosting the School of Uncommon Knowledge, where you can obtain life experiences from everyday people at no charge at all. The lessons come simply at the price of exchanging knowledge and services of your own — and everyone gets to learn or receive something new at the end of the day. A brilliant concept, really.

At the School of Uncommon Knowledge, you can acquire a range of skills such as making your own fanzine, foraging weeds and indigenous plants, the art of dank memes, maximising credit card rewards for travel and even learning flu remedies and hacks from a punk.

All you have to do is register and let them know what you’re bringing to the table in exchange for a lesson (yes, they accept shoulder massages, too). More details on the School of Uncommon Knowledge website and The Substation’s Facebook page.
