Street Reads: A reading fest of (possibly) controversial literary works in Little India

As writers, we’re glad to hear of the various up-and-coming literary events that have been garnering a lot of attention — it’s always great when locals read and support the works of our fellow countrymen.

In case you didn’t know, we’ve got cool stuff like a mobile library roaming our neigbourhoods, a book vending machine and upcoming events like #BuySingLit. One event to check out this weekend is Street Reads, which is organised by The Wildflower Collective. This is where you’ll get to pick up zines displayed on ground mats and read ’em. These zines are self-published and self-printed with materials that, knowing Singapore, are probably considered too controversial for the mainstream market.

Other highlights include performances by four local bands: BC, Iman’s League, Radiant Archery and Elephant Stampede.

Street Reads is on Feb 11, 4.30pm at Lithe House, 23 Madras St. Free for zine browsing; $10 for music performances (door opens at 7).
