It’s that time of year again; the time when we celebrate all things Irish. And this year, Singapore River One’s annual celebration is back and better than ever. The St Patrick’s Day Street Festival 2017 takes place along Circular Road on Mar. 17-19. Think of it as the pot of gold at the end of the long work week!

For the weekend, the Singapore riverside will become a pedestrian-only festival zone, complete with live Irish music, traditional dancing, rock n’ roll and plenty of Guinness to wash down all the Irish delicacies. You don’t have to be in Ireland to celebrate St. Paddy’s, this will more than do!

Here’s how to prepare yourself for what we’re pretty sure is the world’s favorite holiday, and make the most of Singapore’s premier street festival.

Enjoy a traditional pint of Guinness (or two).

There’s nothing more iconic on St. Patrick’s Day than a pint of Guinness. So in true Irish spirit, the street will be lined with outdoor Guinness bars. Take a seat, take a sip and people-watch as the festival ramps up. And if you registered for the 20,000 free pint giveaway, but have yet to claim your free Guinness pint, this festival will be one of your last opportunities to do so at participating bars! Find out more about the dark and smooth beer on Guinness Facebook page.

While you’re at it, explore the culinary potential of Guinness.

Ever thought to yourself, “Irish that St. Paddy’s was all month long!” Wish granted! The ‘Guinness and Green’ Food and Drink Affair is on now until Mar. 31. Take your appreciation of Guinness to the next level with tons of different stout-laced dishes or green St. Paddy’s specialities on offer around the riverwalk.

Mogambo’s Guinness Punch made with stout, cinnamon and nutmeg or the classic Irish Lamb & Guinness Stew from Hero’s are some Guinness infused specialties for the month of March!

Let the luck of the Irish rub off on you.

Forget that lucky rabbit’s foot and bring on the three-leaf clovers – but sorry to say that finding one in your Lucky Charms won’t cut it. You can also plant a big sloppy kiss on an Irish buddy (they won’t mind!) and let a bit of their luck rub off on you. Because if you’re actually lucky enough to be Irish, then you’re lucky enough!

Wear green, eat green, drink green.

While you sport your traditional green T-shirt with obligatory Irish pun, go ahead and indulge in some green treats. Bars and restaurants along Circular Road have created special green drinks and menu items for the whole month of March. The green Poulet de Popeye from Roll Up; DOJO’s green PATRICK burger, Ô COMPTOIR’s charming Lucky Crêpe, the St Paddy’s Spaghetti Rebus from Veg Café as well as a delightful Chicken Palak and Mint Naan from The Mask are just some of the delicacies that have been given a green spin. If the doctor ordered more green for you diet, these choices might just fit the bill.

Learn some Irish dance moves.

Circular Road will come alive with the sound of St. Paddy’s and the luck o’ the Irish over St. Paddy’s weekend. Plus, you’ll have a chance to show off that Irish jig you’ve been practicing! Two separate stages and a DJ booth will keep the party pumping with Irish tunes and rock n’ roll vibes all weekend long.

The Traditional Stage sets the perfect St. Paddy’s mood with Irish dance performances and time-honoured folk songs by The Singapore Trad Collective. The acoustic band uses classic Irish instruments such as the Uilleann pipes, hammered Dulcimer, banjo and fiddle. So don’t worry if you haven’t perfected your Irish moves, you’ll have a chance learn on the spot. Go on and get a shot of culture while having a rollicking good time!

The Rock Stage highlights Irish rock and folk-rock music acts including local and Singapore-based Irish musicians such as Babushka (instrumental jazz, folk and world music), Gan Ainm (Singapore’s original Irish band), The Craic Horse (Celtic folk-rock-punk-funk), The Rock Rosettes Singaporean U2 tribute band) and The Shambollicks (Irish rock covers).

Get the whole family together.

The best way to prepare for the St Patrick’s Day Street Festival 2017 is by bringing every generation of your family together, because there’s really something for everyone here. On top of food, drinks, singing and dancing, there are tons of kid-friendly activities like face painting, balloon sculpting and even airbrush tattooing. Those are the kind of tattoos mum and dad don’t mind, right?
