You’ve seen box shops scattered all across the island — y’know, those ones that feature all kinds of random products, from cutesy toys to phone accessories, in separate compartments rented out to various sellers. But this new store at OneKM mall in Tanjong Katong wants to make a difference.
The Craftpreneurs of SG, a new initiative run by non-profit organisation SingYouth Hub, is a retail space for nine Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) to showcase handicrafts created by their volunteers and beneficiaries. On the list are names like the Cat Welfare Society, the Singapore Environment Council and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society.
All this is done to create greater awareness and raise funds for their respective causes. Price tags begin from $1 for stuff like tote bags and photo frames, and can go all the way up to $120 for a mosaic-tiled bottle by the Friends of the Disabled Society’s beneficiary. If you’re heading over on weekends, look out for handicraft workshops conducted by VWOs at the space.
The Craftpreneurs of SG is at #03-24/25 OneKM Mall, 11 Tanjong Katong Rd.
