The Local People’s latest art market joins forces with the Enabling Village, an all-access community space that serves as a home to social businesses and a hub to help people with disabilities integrate into society. Taking over the carpark area, the Everyday Folk Market features loads of art, retail and artisanal food vendors for you to stroll through.
Sip on a cup of bubble tea by Boba Brew, snack on popcorn by King Corn, jazz up your home with vintage goodies from Time Traveller, and pick up awesome stuff like cute scented soaps by Alletsoap, handicrafts by The Singapore Association for the Deaf or jewellery from By Invite Only. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’ll also be adorable stuffed toys, handmade pins and badges, leather pieces, popsicles, cupcakes, calligraphy writings, poems and more. An ongoing open mic session will provide the tunes for the day.
Peek around to the other side of Enabling Village, and watch the Band of Doodlers cover an art wall and 10 stools with their markers. At sunset, the area turns into a lounge, complete with Airmocks and screenings of short films such as Simi Kopitiam?, a documentary by The Little Red Ants production house.
Everyday Folk Market is on Apr 23, 4pm-9pm at Enabling Village, 20 Lengkok Bahru. Free.
