The Future World: Where Art Meets Science exhibition at the ArtScience Museum has been a crowd favorite because of the vibrant visuals and interactive installations – and now it’s going to get better with new artworks.
From Nov. 26, ArtScience Museum’s permanent exhibition, Future World: Where Art Meets Science, as well as Digital Light Canvas by teamLab at The Shoppes, will reopen following extensive redevelopment works to reveal artworks that invite visitors to experience these dynamic spaces in a new light.
Visitors to Marina Bay Sands can experience three interactive installations in a new gallery titled Exploring New Frontiers, that encourages you to see the skies above as a place of inspiration and discovery.
In the abstract piece Autonomous Abstraction, Continuous Phenomena from the Universe to the Self, inspiration comes from fireflies gathering in one place and flickering at the same
time to create a brighter glow – this phenomenon is also known as self-organisation or spontaneous order. Visitors – like fireflies – interact with the exhibition to create the different lights and colours.
In the installation Aerial Climbing Through a Flock of Colored Birds, visitors are invited to experience the world as they climband navigate an aerial structure consisting of colourful horizontal bars suspended in mid-air. Each person’s movement influences the artwork as well as others in the space, creating patterns of light, colour, and sound.
Then at Sketch Flight, everyone is encouraged to sit down and draw and colour airplanes, hawks and butterflies, before seeing their creations become part of a virtual world projected against a giant screen.
Over at The Shoppes and in its very first revamp, Digital Light Canvas by teamLab will unveil a new artwork that explores nature and biodiversity, focusing on endangered species and the roles that living things play within an ecosystem.
This large-scale installation called Graffiti Nature – Red List transforms the space into a digital menagerie of animals and blooming flowers as they are brought to life from drawings made by visitors.
On top of that, each of the flowers, reptiles, insects, and amphibians found in the installation are
endangered species from the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Try to spot the Siamese Crocodile, Cave Racer Snake, Southern Torrent Frog, Borneo Birdwing Butterfly and the Calypso Orchid among many others.
From Nov. 26 till Dec. 31, visitors can get tickets to both under a special promotional bundle at S$28.
Since opening in 2016, the Future World exhibition has welcomed close to 3 million visitors through its doors.
