Race for a good cause at the second edition of the National Geographic Earth Day Run, the only mass run in Singapore powered by clean renewable energy and motivated by zero-waste initiatives. With the aim of promoting environmentally sustainable ways of organizing events, the race hopes to get 5,000 participants to make green pledges and daily changes in their lives for the better of the environment.

Funds raised from the 5km fun run and the 10km competitive one — routes will pass by landmarks like the Supertree Grove, Marina Barrage and the ArtScience Museum — will go towards the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore’s climate change initiatives.

To reduce carbon emissions, runners will get race packs filled with eco-friendly stuff like race tees made of recycled plastic bottles, BPA-free water bottles with running belts, and a NETS flashpay card for public transport use to and from the event. After the race, stay on for the eco-carnival, where there’ll be food, activities and music performances by local acts like Disco Hue, Gareth Fernandez, iNCH, Take Two and The Façade.

The National Geographic Earth Day Run 2017 is on Apr 23, 2.30pm-8.30pm at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay. $69.
