It’s time to put down your tablet and surrender yourself to a traditional immersive experience with real-life people at the American Writers Festival.
Adam Johnson (picture above), who won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Literature for his book, The Orphan Master’s Son, (set in North Korea) will open the event with a reading that will be followed with a Q&A led by actor Adrian Pang.
There will be more readings: Tina Chang (Of Gods and Strangers) on Sep 15, Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) on Sep 16, and Michael Meyer (The Last Days of Old Beijing) on Sep 17. There are also panel discussions with the authors and a playwriting workshop led by Joseph.
American Writers Festival is from Sep 14-18 at three venues. For details, go to www.americanwriterfest.org.
