Unbeknownst to many, the newest Spider-Man (the third version in a small span of 15 years, if you’re keeping count) actually swung by Singapore recently. No Sinister Six here — Tom Holland was just doing some old-fashioned heroic duty by making folks happy at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Dressed in his souped-up web-slinging suit, the 21-year-old star of Spider-Man: Homecoming dropped by last month to do the usual round of promos for the film (which is very good, by the way), and he took some time off to visit the hospital.

Even the hilarious Jacob Batalon — who plays Spidey’s best friend/guy in the chair Ned Leeson — accompanied Holland to cheer up some lucky kids. No Tony Stark though; he’s probably busy building Cap’s new shield.

And if he’s charming onscreen, he seems to be as charming in real life as he explained to Channel NewsAsia why he loves making hospital visits in character.
“It’s just one of those things that it’s no skin off my back, you know — it’s an afternoon of your time, and it really does cheer up these kids,” he enthuses in an interview.
“If I can bring happiness to people all around the world, then I will try my best to do so. And I think one of the most important places to do that is in a children’s hospital, especially being Spider-Man.”
Indeed, being the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is something that he’s taken very passionately — dude nearly cried when he saw all the overwhelming praise and positive reactions towards his portrayal of the web-slinger. And he does deserve all the glowing plaudits, especially since his version of the ‘ol webhead is considered to be the best one yet.
