The bustling street of the Serangoon Road area is home to a colorful community. Even in photographs, Little India’s vibrant culture is beautifully captured and brought to life. Offering a glimpse into the quirks of the neighborhood, a new photography exhibition titled Documenting: Serangoon Road showcases images shot by more than 20 student photographers from secondary and tertiary schools.

Across the span of a year, the students took snapshots of the area under the mentorship and guidance of pro shutterbugs Darren Soh, Bernice Wong, Philipp Aldrup and Chia Aik Beng. Drop by the exhibition and you’ll see photographs by them, as well as 46 images by the late Lai Chee Weng, who used to work for the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

Take a peek at the exhibition below — it’ll take you on a nostalgic journey across Serangoon Road from its olden days to its present state.

Documenting: Serangoon Road is on from now till Apr 29, Mon-Sat 9am-5pm at The City Gallery in The URA Centre, 45 Maxwell Rd. Free admission.
