The annual Voilah! French Festival is back, this time with more than 40 events set to the theme of ‘France Imagines, France Innovates’. From wine- and cheese-focused weeks to the making of popular video game franchise Assassin’s Creed to a medley of visual and performing arts, there’s plenty in store for everyone over the next month or so.

6th French Film Animation Festival
May 19-21 at Alliance Française Theatre
Six movies will be screened at this year’s fest for young ones and the young at heart, including everything from musical comedy Ballerina (Leap!) to sci-fi adventure Avril et le monde truqué (April and the Extraordinary World).
FAKE i REAL ME
Apr 20-June 26 at Art+ Shanghai Gallery

How far will you go to achieve perfect beauty? From colored contacts to facial reconstruction, this photography series by Corinne Mariaud takes a look at the importance of physical appearances to young women in Singapore and Seoul.
La Cage Aux Folles
Apr 19-May 13 at Victoria Theatre
This big Broadway musical, based on Jean Poiret’s play, is presented by W!ld Rice and revolves around a family’s journey in their struggles to stay together and be true to themselves.
Once Upon A Time Tomorrow
Apr 8-May 21 at The Colonnade, Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay

Stroll through Gardens by the Bay and stop to admire stunning photo-paintings featuring familiar global landmarks by renowned French photographer Chris Morin-Eitner. Singapore’s own Marina Bay Sands is one of the iconic buildings that’s been digitally transformed into a re-imagined landscape of greenery.
The Art Behind the Game — The Ubisoft Experience
Apr 18-May 25 at the National Design Centre
Any fans of Assassin’s Creed in the house? Check out this exhibition, where you’ll delve into the history of French gaming company Ubisoft, the historical setting and contributions of the Singapore studio to the franchise, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game.
The Pictures of Imagination — A Journey in Jules Verne’s World

Dive into the world of French novelist Jules Verne through the eyes of graphic novel artists and get swept up into titles like Journey to the Center of the Earth, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in Eighty Days.
Urbanfork Exhibition
May 4-June 28 at URA Lobby Gallery
It’s all about the ’60s and ’70s architecture of Singaporean and French buildings at this display, which was put together by local photographer Bob Lee and French graphic designer Philippe Diversy.
Voilah! Gourmet Picnic
Apr 9, 6pm at Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Singapore Botanic Gardens

Pack your picnic blanket and laze around on the grassy hill for an evening of French delicacies, as you watch performances by the Siong Leng Musical Association and acrobatic dancers of the White Shadows on stilts and in massive bubbles.

Foodies won’t be left out, thanks to the festival’s Restaurant Week (Apr 14-23), Sweet Week (Apr 25-30), Wine Weeks (May 2-14) and Dairy Week (May 16-21). This is the time for you to discover and indulge in the best pastries, fondues, cheeses, wines and cold cuts from French restaurants across Singapore with ongoing special offers and masterclasses.
