Parties in mainland Singapore getting a little too mainstream for ya? Take a ferry to St John’s Island for a brief offshore escape. Hosted by BLACKOUT and After Dark, the two-day outdoor party will give you a chance to explore the island, delve into its stories and colorful history, as well as let loose and have fun away from the city.
Local and regional DJs such as Brendon P, Zig Zach, Maurice Simon, Oliver Osborne, Sunju Hargun and Jonathan Kusuma will take the decks to provide the beats, while Camp Kilo Charcoal Club and Selva Foods will dish out roast meats and açaí bowls with spirulina smoothies respectively. If you’re the type to get bored easily, sign up for free workshops on sustainable living hosted by Green Is The New Black Asia, or stroll around the exhibition by local photography collective Colossal Photos.
Since it’s a two-day shindig, you can choose to stay the night (likely in dorm beds at the old prison), keep the party going strong till sunset the next day, or head home to your comfy beds.
Island Escape is on from May 27-28, Sat noon-Sun sunset at St John’s Island. $55, all tickets include a ferry trip from and to Marina South Pier.
