Parkway Parade mall reopens its doors after days of rigorous cleanup

Just in time for the weekend. After a couple days of closure, Parkway Parade mall has reopened its doors to shoppers following rigorous clean-up.

The mall in Marine Parade underwent a four-day hiatus due to a small fire that transpired last Sunday night on the building’s second floor. The damage seemed pretty severe enough for the mall’s management to put operations on hold — the first and second floors of the mall were reportedly covered in soot and water, while the third to fifth floors had the electricity cut off.

After days of working on reinstating essential cabling for the fire protection system as well as testing and commissioning, the mall announced that its all systems go today.

Not all stores in the mall will be operating though — some of the affected tenants are still carrying out rectification works of their own. Channel NewsAsia reports that property company Landease — who manage Parkway Parade — are in talks with affected retailers about compensation.

As for the cause of the fire, the mall are currently working closely with the authorities in their investigations.
