Social media influencer Wendy Cheng, aka Xiaxue, today announced that her “fairytale” has come to an end, and has been for a “long time.”

The 38-year-old posted a statement on Instagram explaining that she and her American husband, Mike Sayre, have decided to go their separate ways after 17 years of being together. They were married for 13 years and share a 10-year-old son named Dashiel aka Dash.

“This announcement may come as a surprise to many of you, but we have actually been separated for a long time now,” she wrote, adding that the separation was mutual and amicable.

Cheng met Sayre online and the two dated for three years before getting married in 2010 with an Italian Mafia-themed wedding solemnization ceremony publicized by entertainment channel Clicknetwork. She gained stardom from hosting several online web series but was later fired by the channel in 2020 for her racist posts.

The family has been very much in the public eye, with both son and husband being featured in several of her videos.

“This may not be the fairytale ending that everyone wishes for, but 17 years is a long time and we had a good run with loads of love, happiness and memories we formed together,” she wrote.

Cheng reminded the public that “nothing lasts forever” and they will now focus on co-parenting Dash and being supportive of one another for the future.

She wished Sayre happiness and said she had no regrets about choosing him.

“To my ex-husband, my partner in crime all these years and the father of my child, I wish you nothing but happiness for your future. Despite things ending this way, I never regretted picking you,” she wrote.

She ended the statement with a plea to her followers that they respect her family’s privacy during this time.
