Retail therapy on Orchard Road may not be as exciting as it once was, but if one day you find yourself reluctantly at the shopping stretch with nothing to do, keep in mind this new recreational space for a couple hours of entertainment. K Bowling Club, situated in 313 @ Somerset, is a neon-lit leisure hangout where you can play a round of cosmic bowling, battle your buddies at arcade games, sing your heart out in a karaoke session, or show off your skills at darts and pool.

It’s for the miserable men who’ve been dragged on a shopping spree. Or the group of friends with some time to kill before their movie screening. Or the pair on their first date with no after-dinner plans.

Like something out of a futuristic movie, the bowling alley is decked out in brightly-lit egg chairs and psychedelic lights, with a backdrop of thumping beats that may or may not get you up and grooving like you’re back at Zouk. Better yet, you won’t have to make conversation or worry about awkward silences because the music will just drown it all out. Keeping in neon theme, the row of dart machines are a rainbow sight to behold.

But if you can’t take the strobe lights, head over to the arcade area, where you can lose yourself in the nostalgic world of Puzzle Bobble, get to shooting some hoops, and try your luck at the devious claw machine. Or play a game of pool for old times’ sake.

Alternatively, show off your vocal chops at the KTV booths. Simply slip on a pair of headphones, grab a mic, and put on your jam. Perhaps you’ll discover you’ve got Singapore Idol potential, perhaps you’ll realize your shower singing sessions sounded better in your head.
