The biggest Christmas event in Singapore returns for its fourth edition in December with more enchanting experiences for everyone to get into the merrymaking mood. Scattered across the 57,000 sqm fairground are new highlights like an outdoor skating rink, Santa’s Grotto, circus acts from Ethiopia, and a festive spread by acclaimed restaurants at the food market, alongside familiar attractions like carnival rides, choirs singing yuletide tunes, and light installations.

At the festival’s first ever outdoor skating rink at The Meadow, you’ll be skating past colorful light sculptures as you encircle the 240 sqm rink brought in from Switzerland. If ever you feel like you’re missing out on a white Christmas, this attraction and the Spalliera’s always-popular Blizzard Time of “falling snow” will be the closest thing you can get here.

To keep you entertained this year, the organizers are also throwing in a circus performance — Ethiopian Dreams by Circus Abyssinia — with gravity-defying stunts and magical moves. Or if you’ve got young ones with you, bring ’em over to Santa’s Grotto, where kids can meet Mr. Claus himself amidst an Alpine House with life-sized flying reindeers and photo installations.

Besides the usual Festive Market at the Supertree Grove — where vendors like The Raclette Factory and Propupstore will set up shop — Savour’s Christmas Wonderland edition will bring in dishes from Michelin-starred restaurants like Shoukouwa and Saint Pierre at the gourmet food festival, with price tags that go as low as $6.

As for the rest of the traditional festivities, expect to see the gardens lit up with over 70 luminarie sculptures handcrafted from Italy once again — including The Spalliera, Southeast Asia’s tallest luminarie, and a 13m-tall Christmas “tree”.

Other activities include carnival rides like bumper cars and a Christmas train, as well as the special edition of the Garden Rhapsody light show at the Supertree Grove. Should you wish to cool down after mingling with the crowds, head over to the air-conditioned Flower Dome, which will showcase Nordic yuletide decorations and plants of the season such as poinsettias, amaryllis, and Christmas trees.

Christmas Wonderland is on from Dec 1-26, daily 4pm-11pm at Gardens by the Bay. Admission tickets from $4.
