This new comedy musical from Malaysia stars Kumar, Gurmit Singh and Joanne Kam

It’s a battle of wits, as Singaporean and Malaysian stand-up comedians circle one another on the stage of Laugh Die You — The Karaoke. Originally debuting in Malaysia, the popular show combines music, dance and comedy for a fascinating performance.

Familiar faces to watch out for include Kumar and Gurmit Singh, whose new persona is Hero Singh, an upright, law-abiding Punjabi security guard who’s a mix of eccentric and flamboyant. There’s also Joanne Kam repping our neighbours across the Causeway — she’ll be taking on Kumar to see who elicits the most laughs, while Singh moderates (and occasionally bursts into song).

This three-hour comedy musical also includes a jamming sesh by Malaysian rock outfit Hydra. They’ll unleash karaoke zingers for audiences to dance and sing along to. Looks like between the four performers, there’ll be lots to keep you entertained.

Laugh Die You — The Karaoke is on Jul 9 & 10 at Resorts World Theatre. Tickets available on Sistic. $68-$350.
