It’s time to get your art on this month, with four weekends of workshops, supper club dinners, film screenings, and community talks hosted by a pop-up series called The Balvenie House of Craft. Put together by local craft and design center The General Company and Scottish whisky brand The Balvenie, this (mostly) free showcase of local and regional artisans and creators will be housed at an old industrial block on King George’s Avenue every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in September.

At the open house, visitors can expect to watch screenings of indie short films and stroll through art installations, as well as sign up for ticketed craft demonstrations and workshops run by local makers and designers.

Names on the line-up include marquage painter Cherin Sim, woodwork artist Morgan Yeo from Roger&Sons, hand-lettering artist Ewe Jin Tee, Floral Magic florist Josephine Lau, designer Melvin Lim from Desinere, Jay Chua from Fossa Chocolate, and letterpress artists Michelle Yu and Jacqueline Goh from The Gentlemen’s Press and The Fingersmith Letterpress, respectively.

And if you’re the kind who believes that booze makes everything better, then good news: The space also features an open bar with cocktails (using The Balvenie’s whiskies, of course), complimentary whisky tastings, and dinners made by homegrown chefs behind popular eateries like FatCat and Morsels. Then on Fridays from 8pm-11pm, local bartenders such as Peter Chua from Junior and Gabriel Martin Escoto Carlos from Manhattan will make guest appearances to whip up drinks, too — so you can kick-start your weekend on a high.
