Naiise takes over Dunlop Street shophouse for biggest pop-up ever

Naiise.com, the online retailer that stocks all the ‘cool beans’ by local and international craftsmen, is set to launch their fourth and largest pop-up store ever on a strip in Little India that’s about to see a bit of a lifestyle renaissance.

Starting Nov. 15 through Christmas eve, the Naiise Christmas Pop-Up will take over two shophouse units at 72 — 74 Dunlop Street, which they hope will buzz up the area before the big gentrification.

Vivienne Soon, general manager of Breezeway Development that owns the shophouse space, says the architectural heritage and colourful chaos of Dunlop Street is the perfect backdrop for an alternative festive experience, aka ‘hipster-style’ grubbing and shopping, which is what Naiise’s pop will be all about.

For the first time at a Naiise store a third of the space will be dedicated to food and drink. Every week during the pop-up period, one restaurant partner — either Burnt Ends, The Cajun Kings, Kith, Morsels or Park Bench Deli — will take over the menu. The Cajun Kings and Burnt Ends will also be hosting a roasted hoq barbecue night on Dec. 7 from 2pm onwards, at the building’s newly constructed open-air rooftop. Local craft food products will also be available for sale throughout the week.

The other two-thirds of the store will be laid out as usual with design products from 150 indie designers, including exclusive products and services. There’ll also be workshops (book-binding, floral arrangement, letterpress printing) for those who want to give their Christmas gifts an edge this year, as well as a personalised gift-wrapping service.

And really, we’re not just saying this, but giving is just as, if not more rewarding than buying, so check out the Christmas tree while you’re at the pop-up to see if you can grant any of the Club Rainbow wishes. 100 kids suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses were nominated by the charity to receive via the Naiise Christmas Pop-Up.
