The next time you’re strolling past the myriad eateries of Katong, take a little breather from the bustling crowds at The WYLD Shop‘s first physical boutique. Its unassuming storefront may not draw your attention at first glance, but once you’ve stepped in, it’s a colorful, cozy space with lots of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands on display.
Having been around since 2013 as an online retailer, The WYLD Shop brings in mostly Australian names known for their high-street style, as well as regional and local businesses.
At the shop house, more than 26 brands are showcased — primarily geared towards women. Nearly every inch of the space is covered in dresses, jewelry, homeware, and photographs. It’s the kind of place where you walk in thinking ‘oh, just a quick browse will do’… only to step out an hour later with a handmade bracelet that you initially had no intention of purchasing.
In anticipation of families coming by to shop, the store also houses a tiny kids’ corner with toys and books, as well as a miserable men hangout comfy couch for non-shoppers to chill at.
On the fashion and accessories side, The WYLD Shop currently carries brands like Circa Collective, Indikah, Indii Breeze, Jaase, Minkpink, Nala Designs, and The Wit and The Will. It’s difficult to pinpoint a single style type, since the variety here runs the gamut — from boho chic and ultra-feminine, to bold patterns and relaxed elegance.
It also stocks The Mariposa Collection, which designs customized kimono robes for bachelorette parties, when soon-to-be brides want to deck out their squads with matching sleepwear. There’s also local lingerie label Terie, which should appeal to eco-friendly warriors with its wire-free bralettes made of bamboo material.
There’s also Lorna Jane for gym buffs and Roses & Rhinos, a children’s apparel brand that makes fun, brightly colored clothes for the little ones.
Accessories abound here: Look out for stylish sunglasses from brands like Le Specs and Quay Australia; Frankitas’ bracelets made with traditional textiles by artisans from Indonesia, Malaysia, and India; plus jewelry designs from Colour Addict, Hipanema, Isle & Tribe, Just Gaya’s, and Minc Collections.
On the beauty side, you’ve got lipstick label Inga Cosmetics, cruelty-free products by W.ant Skincare made from pure botanical oils and minerals, and even vibrators by Smile Makers.
You can also give your home a facelift with bamboo ware from Glambue and furnishings from Home West, or do a little decorating with psychedelic images of Singapore by Linda Preece Photography and snapshots of the people and streets of Asia by Justin Fernando Photography.
