Music festival junkies can look forward to singing their hearts out at a two-day concert to be held at the Marina Bay Sands next week.
“Back to Live” would take place at the Sands Theatre on Dec. 18 and 19, with performances by homegrown artistes such as singers Benjamin Kheng, Sezairi Sezali, Charlie Lim, and rapper The Lion City Boy.
Each event day would go on for one-and-a-half hours and accommodate up to 500 attendees, who would be required to show proof that they had tested negative for COVID-19.
“As we re-open our entertainment venues in a responsible manner, we hope to instill confidence to welcome back concert goers as they experience the best performances in this renewed environment,” Paul Town, senior vice president for operations said today.
Concertgoers would go through coronavirus rapid testing before entering the venue. Each test would only take up to 30 minutes to produce a result. Those free of the virus would then take turns to proceed into the theatre, where they would be divided into sections prepared for up to 50 people per zone. Each audience member would be seated a meter apart and intermingling between zones would not be allowed.
Coronavirus safety measures such as safe distancing, disinfection and contact tracing via the TraceTogether app or its hardware device would be put in place. Safe distancing monitors would also be deployed.
This would be the largest live music event to be held in Singapore ever since the “circuit breaker” partial lockdown earlier this year largely affected the entertainment industry. “Back To Live” was also considered to be part of a trial by the government as it assessed ways for Singapore to resume large-scale events safely.
Tickets for the concerts cost S$55 for a single-day entry and S$98 for two days. They go on sale on the website today.
