If traveling overseas for the year-end celebrations isn’t your thing (air tickets are way too expensive right now anyway), then staycations are the way to go. Luckily for us all, there’s a new upscale option to consider — Hyatt’s chain of luxury boutique abodes, Andaz.
Located right at the crux of cultural crossroads near Kampong Glam, Little India, and the Civic district, the first Andaz hotel to open in Southeast Asia draws aesthetics influences from its vicinity. The hotel sits pretty in the Bugis DUO development that’s designed by acclaimed German architect Ole Scheeren (the same dude behind world building of the year The Interlace), and the interiors are as future-chic as it looks from the outside.

Housing 342 contemporary guest rooms (including 26 suites), patrons get to enjoy stunning views of the city via floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as integrated installations from artists regional and beyond.

Food-wise, Andaz aims to keep the shock-and-awe impression going. Conceived as the culinary hub of the hotel, Alley on 25 is Andaz Singapore’s all-day dining venue in the sky. Instead of splitting fares by cuisine, the five restaurants are categorized by their particular style of cooking prep. Icehaus is where one goes for light and easy dining with cold cuts and seafood; The Green Oven is where one can dig into baked goodness; Smoke & Pepper is where folks can enjoy barbecue and grill specialties; Auntie’s Wok and Steam celebrates tze char food culture; and Plancha’Lah! is hotplate city.

Tippling gets elevated to literally lofty heights on the 39th level at Mr Stork, Andaz Singapore’s destination rooftop bar with 360-degree views of the city. The true highlight, however, is the ten teepee huts that’ll let you enjoy your drinks and the breathtaking city-scape in cozy capacities.

Christmas staycations get the extra dazzle they deserve with an all-encompassing buffet at Alley on 25 that incorporates the various restaurants. Festive highlights — available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve — include the likes of Boston lobster soft rolls, Alaskan king crab legs, boneless marinated short ribs, stir-fried black Angus beef and more.
Over at Mr Stork, they’re kicking off the new year with their own countdown party that’ll involve free-flowing champagne, wines, and house-brewed pale ale as a boozy accompaniment to the fireworks display over the bay area.
