What a year 2021 was! The year started with signs that live sports events might gradually make a comeback and they certainly did, in emphatic fashion. The Singapore Tennis Open, an ATP 250 tournament, captivated its live audience. It was one of the first major international sporting events to be held in Singapore in 2021.
We’ve all missed live events dearly, especially the emotions and ambience that cannot be replaced. Singapore Sports Hub closed 2021 on a high with the World Table Tennis Cup Finals Singapore and the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup, scintillating tournaments that Singaporeans will remember for a long time.
Throughout these competitions, along with competitions held overseas like the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, Paralympic Games, Badminton World Federation World Championships and Asian Youth Para Games, Singapore Sports Hub stood firmly behind our athletes, supporting them in training, competition and at national flag presentation ceremonies. Together with the entire nation, we cheered them on.
We were on the edge of our seats when we witnessed the ebullient victories of world champions like Yip Pin Xiu and Loh Kean Yew, along with valiant performances by stalwarts like table tennis player Feng Tian Wei, fencer Kiria Tikanah, the Singapore Lions and our para-athletes.
This year, Singapore Sports Hub also welcomed the opening of EXP, Singapore’s largest esports experience centre at Kallang Wave Mall, and celebrated key events by lighting up the iconic National Stadium in a multitude of colours. Watch this video to relive these moments! Thank you for being part of Singapore Sports Hub’s 2021.
